The Queens Hall Low Carbon Communities Project

We all have to make changes to cope with climate change and dependence on fossil fuels, so the Queens Hall is teaming with Transition Arberth (TN) to take forward a project to make the Queens Hall a Carbon Neutral building.

Under a department for the environment and climate change scheme called Low Carbon Communities Challenge, we are applying for the funding to install an array of Photovoltaic panels on the roof to generate some of the energy used to heat and light the building. We will also show users the energy that has been consumed by their own hiring and how much we have generated with the system. Not only that but we will present a series of events to help all of Narberth to reduce their impact on the environment and possibly make their own electricity generating project.

Progress so far

28 th. October Registered to apply

4 th. November Queens Hall Trustees agreed for D.C. to take the project forward on their behalf.

Letters of support requested and received via appeals on Facebook, TENP, Narberth Future Forum and QH. Many people and groups responding.

19 th. November Narberth Transition town unleashed at Queens Hall

6 th. December 7, 2009 TN meeting endorsed the project and is gathering present carbon footprint information to provide a baseline to show improvements we can make with the project.

I need to give the answer to:

‘What is the present carbon footprint of your community’.

I now need each person who reads this to find out there own carbon footprint by filling in the questionnaire on the website www.energysavingtrust.org.uk

and send the results to me decsee@googlemail.com

or queenshall@transitionnarberth.org

Thank you
