Friday 13th - Limehouse Lizzy - "Into the Limelight" Tour 2008 with Support from Gunslinger

Limehouse Lizzy

Premier tribute act Limehouse Lizzy present a stirring tribute to Philip Lynott and Thin Lizzy, and are currently riding the wave of a Thin Lizzy renaissance. 2006 saw them complete their 'Dedication’ tour, a celebration of some of the finest songs in rock history. The tour was a massive success, and culminated in the band being featured in a BBC2 documentary.

The Limehouse Lizzy concert footage and interviews were screened nationally as part of the Arena television series in October 2007.  Watch the band’s websites www.limehouselizzy.com and www.myspace.com/limehouselizzy, as footage from the programme will be added in the coming months…

Due to overwhelming demand, the band are returning in 2008 (their 15th anniversary as a band), complete with their magnificent mirrored backdrop, police lights, and full pyrotechnic display.  Expect Whisky in the Jar, Parisienne Walkways, The Boys are Back in Town, and many more of Phil Lynott's genre-defying hits, alongside some of his cult album tracks and solo material.

GunslingerGunslinger is Alan Davey, (Hawkwind, Bedouin, Meads of Asphodel) on bass, synths and vocals, J D Tait (Meads of Asphodel, Worms of S) on guitars and death vocals, and drummer Sunil Jolly (Meads of Asphodel, Worms of S). With James Hodkinson – synths. The rhythm backbone of the Meads will be giving it large and loud on Gunslinger’s contemporary metal.

Alan Davey's GUNSLINGER have agreed to come and play a short set before ours, in order to promote and showcase tracks from his new GUNSLINGER solo album, alongside a few classic Hawkwind songs.

As you may already know, Alan has handled bass, vocal and keyboard duties as a full time member of Hawkwind for over 22 years. During this period Alan has also been very active on the songwriting and production front, and recorded over 40 albums with Britain's best loved prog rock band. This GUNSLINGER release coincides with the re-issue of Alan’s entire solo back catalogue on CD by Voiceprint Records.

Thursday 19th - The Handsome Family
with support from Welsh singer/songwriter Stephen Light

The Handsome FamilyOver the last nine years, husband and wife duo Brett and Rennie Sparks (aka The Handsome Family) have recorded a series of albums that has established them as one of America's finest songwriting partnerships. Now relocated from Chicago to New Mexico the couple were, until recently, a well-kept secret - but sheer hard work and not a little word of mouth has meant sell out concerts across the UK and Europe, extensive coverage in the national, the patronage of Ringo Starr on USA chat shows, and high profile appearances on top rated BBC TV and radio shows that include The Jonathan Ross Show, Andy Kershaw's world music show and Later With Jools Holland.

In addition the band have had songs covered by everyone from Cerys Matthews to Christy Moore and joined the likes of Nick Cave, Rufus & Martha Wainwright and Linda Thompson for Hal Willner's Came So Far For Beauty - a musical celebration of the songs of Leonard Cohen that has so far been performed in Brighton, NYC and at the Sydney Opera House. More recently they appeared in Jim White's Deep South travelogue Searching For The Wrong Eyed Jesus - an award winning movie that found them discussing in the back of a car (as only Brett and Rennie could) the meaning of faith, and performing When That Helicopter Comes, in the middle of a swamp.

Stephen Light

In their live performances, The Handsome Family will sometimes be two and a minidisc player and sometimes be three (when they can squeeze Brett¹s brother Darrell into the car with his drum kit). But either way their live performances will, says Rennie strive to be as beautiful and creepy as a thorny rose twisting around the bleached jawbone of a dead horse
